Back Where We Started From. “Part of my routine during Brazil’s worst moment in the COVID-19 pandemic was to document my immediate surroundings with my loved ones. Looking for a sense of normality, all we found is uncertainty. This project explores the circumstances in which the pandemic affects our lives.”

Mika Plutitskaya’s practice is based upon playing with mythic structures of the past and memory and recycling them. “My approach grows from contextual research. I screen over films, found photo archives, children’s songs, animation and architecture, trying to identify archetypal images which hold the potential of emotional memory and subjective time. Then I develop the imagery through the practice of repetition, overlapping, zooming and cropping and playing with paint, seeking pictorial ambiguity and mutual mirroring.”

Chloe Fitzpatrick is a Scottish Jewellery artist. For her ‘Inner Beauty’ collection Chloe decided to focus on an animal perceived as ugly and show the true beauty hidden within the creature. “I feel like it is so important to recognise that beauty is all around us, especially in the weirdest, strangest or most hidden places. I created this collection with the intention of reminding people that you can find beauty in the most unusual places.”

Sam Heydt – surreal normality. “Covid19 has scanned the United States like a black light in an hourly rate motel room that is America. This body of work is a surrealistic response to the surreal normality worn by our current reality. While globally the curve has flattened, the drawbacks of a self-proclaimed free society manifest as spikes in cases throughout the United States, where wearing a mask has become a partisan issue, positioned at odds with civil rights rather than in line public safety. As the repercussions of loosening lockdown ripple through the population, the post-pandemic rush to normality has proven to be too hasty.”

江峰 Jiang Feng – U.S. (unwholesome shelter). “This series juxtaposes the torn and dirty USian flag with naked bodies of all genders, races, sexuality, nationality, and cultural backgrounds. The images capture their vulnerability, emotions, and strength, critiquing the United States as the dreamland and shelter for all. The U.S. is alleged to be the most open and tolerant country but fails to welcome people from various backgrounds equally.”

Daryna Nesterenko is a contemporary artist. Her paintings form a narrative where each artwork is a part of a storyline and is filled with particular feelings, emotions, memories and most importantly, the beauty of the female body. These artworks showcase her worldview and the path to accepting and loving herself. There are many symbols to her works , however the central theme is dissolution – the process of dissolving in space and nature through accepting one`s human nature. Her story is alive and is constantly changing
