The Life Drawing Workshop led by Portrait Painter Anthony Connolly RP runs for two days 10am to 4pm. All materials, lunch and refreshments are included. Summerleaze Gallery is situated in an exceptionally peaceful and beautiful corner of Wiltshire, yet within easy reach of London by road and rail. The workshop space is converted from farm buildings, having a wonderful sense of space and light.
Life Drawing Workshop
This Drawing Class introduces the intricacies of working from the model, not just for the technically minded but also for those who are interested in a painter’s perspective on the role and importance of drawing from life. Working from models each day, the Life Drawing Workshop explores a range of processes and techniques. This includes the use of colour to introduce subtleties and presence, as well as advice on capturing a likeness and overcoming difficulties. The two day course will introduce longer poses, giving you time to develop more sustained and individual works. You will be able to investigate form through a variety of approaches and drawing and painting materials including willow charcoal, graphite, pastels, pencil and both water based paints and oil paint.
The number of participants is strictly limited to enable detailed feedback from Anthony Connolly. This course is suitable for all levels. Anthony works with you as an individual so while it can be a masterclass for those with experience of drawing, painting or creative practice in general, it can also be an introduction to this most fascinating of drawing experiences.

Anthony Connolly trained at Goldsmith’s College. He now lives with his family in Wiltshire. For several years he has exhibited at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters annual exhibition at Mall Galleries.
Before becoming a full time painter Anthony taught for several years and runs drawing and painting courses. He has a studio at his home near Salisbury and is always pleased to travel to work with his subjects in their own homes or elsewhere.
Anthony Connolly’s book, ‘Portrait Painting’ was published by the Crowood Press in July 2011.
