In Between Spaces

20 April 2021 - 29 June 2021

Louise Barrington returned home to Orkney after studying at the Slade School of Fine Art & Central Saint Martins. She has exhibited many times including the Royal Scottish Academy. Her work is an emotional response to Orkney’s beautiful and dramatic terrain which inspired her palette. It deals with the quiet in-between times and places that border day & night, land & sea and the wonderful play of light found in these remote northern isles. The result, these gorgeous liminal land & seascapes.

The Poetry of Landscape

12 October 2021 - 12 November 2021

Building on a long tradition of European landscape painting, Joy Moore presents these richly glowing landscapes evoking wistful and emotional connections with Scotland, Ireland and Italy. Moore’s landscapes take the viewer to imaginary places. It’s the hills and shores of Scotland, Ireland and Italy that provide the architecture but Joy gives them life, sublime colour and layers of meaning. It is only through this intensely personal prism that these pieces acquire a deeply thoughtful and reflective quality. Here we see the mind of a poet at work. But with paint rather than words.
