Ruby Kite is an independent London based brand, founded by designer’s Tamara Williams & Joy Leese, specialising in luxury cashmere, silk scarves and accessories. SEE COLLECTION→

Having spent over 30 years creating and designing for brands worldwide, they thought it was time to turn their truly individual artworks into unique statement pieces.

Naturally beautiful

As artists and designers, Tamara & Joy see things differently. A day at the beach is not just sunny. It is wind dried and sun-bleached blues, aquamarine, coal blacks, sandblasted sand and sunset reds.  SEE COLLECTION→

A rainy day in November isn’t merely miserable. It’s an opaque swirl of deep purples, muddied greens and burnt oranges that breathe a browner horror on winter woods. What can’t adequately be put into words, they put into pictures, amazing evocative and gorgeously abstract pictures that stir up not just memories of a time or place but more importantly, feelings.

Ideas always start with drawings

From a love of composition and visual space through to the energy and freedom of abstract line work, unique textures are explored through different printmaking techniques which translate beautifully onto each scarf. SEE COLLECTION→

No need for subtitles

The inspiration for RubyKite’s work comes from nature. They plunder nature as many artists do but it’s not the subject matter that’s so crucial, it’s the interpretation of nature. SEE COLLECTION→

The results are original and personal for both women are expert interpreters of natural phenomenon:

landscapes, seascapes and nature in close up with all its intricacy and in all its intimacy.

Each colour story is printed in small batches on high quality silk & cashmere to create beautiful statement wraps and scarves that stand-out as truly original. SEE COLLECTION→

Ravishing yet responsible

This harmonious relationship with nature is carried through the whole manufacturing process. RubyKite use their own weavers to ensure less waste. Digital printing means less use of water and chemicals and the inks themselves are AZO dye free. To work any other way would seem ungrateful to the natural world that has given them so much. That’s the reason Tamara and Joy make sure that every care is taken in creating their works of art. Another reason why RubyKite scarves and wraps are so desirable. SEE COLLECTION→

Why not give someone you love, something they’ll love

Joy’s fashion and textile experience, enhances their original ideas by carefully mixing and matching the very best fabrics, trims and finishes. SEE COLLECTION→

Cashmere & Silk Scarf Wildscape Story

Inspired by long walks along the fields and beaches of the North Norfolk coast, the Wildscape paintings started as a series of colour sketches, before being painted on plaster. The plaster transforms the bright colours into a chalky palette of coastal tones.

“And of course, each of their big statement pieces has its own little story to tell.”

We chose two of the nine editions for printing on to our silks. The textures from each of the little works are greatly magnified and create wonderfully abstract detail on a large scale. SEE COLLECTION→

Cashmere & Silk Scarf Flora Story

‘I’ve always loved the detail of small, precious items found on morning walks. The feather and calendula started as a quick monotone sketch with colour notes for printing. Lino-cuts were created before inking with muted greens, smudgy blues and soft pinks. These were cast in plaster to add layers and textures which really come to life on both the extra long, sheer, wrap which really is, as light as a feather and the Calendula oversized silk square.’ SEE COLLECTION→

Cashmere & Silk Scarf Tree Story

The rings of a cut tree are wondrous. Each one is unique and tells its own story. The beauty of the curved lines with their fine textures and uneven edges is hard to capture as a drawing. But, etching plates with their carved graphic lines and inky burrs work really well.  There are two tree etchings that have been used on our silks and cashmere modals. SEE COLLECTION→
