Vanessa Lawrence “I remember feeling an instant connection with the aesthetics of the shoot. It made me think of others; ash-white make-up of Butoh dancers, discordant music & angular hands of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring with Ballet Russes, with all the energy of the Dancers by Picasso.
Some poses were quick as lightening, others were longer. All of them felt brave, spontaneous and they encouraged a bravery in me.The materials transformed my work. Coloured pastel paper, blocks of colour pastels, swift, decisive mark making.” Drawings from Drawing Cabaret Couture & IA London Bedlam Collection was FIDA Prize 2021 shortlisted.
