À Rebours is a fascinating exhibition of work by the British Artist William Tillyer shown recently at Bernard Jacobson Gallery. His work redefines and reinterprets classic subject matter, like landscapes, still life and portraits, in methods that challenge historical traditions and vary between bodies of work. Examples of his work are also included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Brooklyn Art Museum, the Fort Worth Art Museum, Texas, the Smith College Museum of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
